(they were returning from fallas where I got hit in the lip...back in 1988 we spent a semester in spain and during one of the festive fallas nights in Denia we were standing outside watching them shoot "borachos" which are large bottlerockets but which they shoot horizontally rather than vertically ...ie they shoot them at people not up in the air; suddenly I got hit in the face by something or somebody...still don't know...all I remember is being on the ground trying to get up, and feeling something wet all over my face..turned out to be blood...my lip was split open...needed 20 stitches to close it in the middle of the night.. very frightening. Nonetheless, it pales in comparison to people dying in a bus accident. I only mention it because it has one thing in common: the fallas festival.
